Text Message or "Send"

I pick up the phone and text my friend, "Remember to set your clocks an hour forward tonight." Innocent and not even that big of a deal to call and interrupt what conversation could be going on. So much for my trying to be convenient...I'm later told by him that I could easily pick up the phone and press "send". While that might seem easy to do, I still don't see the problem in texting a piece of information that doesn't require feedback. Why I might accent this text with a typical "How are you today?"...He may reply and even ask the same of myself. I may reply as well, but really people, has texting become a nuisance? Now, I do have a cousin that only communicates via text messaging. She will not pick up the phone and will have long pages of information that I'm sure could be easily communicated the conventional way. I have another cousin, who once texted his mother, while he was using the bathroom that "there's no toilet paper"! That's purely ridiculous!
Now, I've sent long pages of text (mainly to vent my feelings at the moment), without the interruption of the intended audience. As you can see, I'm really good at expressing myself in type....but in conversation, sometimes I hit it on the head, while in most cases, I forget what I'm supposed to say and miss the whole point of my thesis. One look, one word, and I'm sidewinded speechless!
So if you're reading friend....it's not that I don't want to talk to you. Most of the time, I know that you're busy and may not have time to talk. So, in an effort to put my Public Relations degree from Hampton U into practice, I try to keep those things into mind. I'm not trying to be bothersome by texting, it's quite the opposite. From now on, however, it's "send" everytime.

A Retired Jersey

You know I've pondered on writing about the dynamics of my personal relationship with a promising young lad that shall remain anonymous. It's like no other relationship I've ever encountered or even heard of. But instead of going on and on about this amazing man with an intriguing mind and fun sense of humor, I'll take the low road and speak to those who haven't found a light of fire since a Danielle Steel novel!

I have...like every woman you know, portrayed in a Lifetime movie, or featured in a women's magazine...been dogged out, played out, & taken for granted! But, unlike most women, I've never given up on love. Call me Charlotte! Yeah, I've learned vital lessons, and tucked these new experiences under my belt. But I'll be damned if I'll let those tough times turn me into a jaded & bitter soul. I refuse to sell my soul for a few heartbreaks and broken headboards, so that I can feel like the predator this time, instead of the prey.

Trust me ladies (and gentlemen, if you're out there), if there's anybody who should be the Lil' Kim anthem, it's me! I should be doing unto them, as they did unto me. But I don't have the time to allow my past to have that much control in my future. I've turned over a new leaf with life experiences, and I've slowly realized that the tougher the experience, the wiser you are when you rise above it. The sense of accomplishment after the struggle, overwhelms that pitiful feeling of defeat you once had.

Today, there's this new "arm" candy. He's scrumptuous and delicious in every sense of the word. I look forward to our conversations as well as our inter-actions! : ) He's a great guy and I don't know if I could have said that a couple of years ago about my "then" boo. Maybe. But I know, deep down, I wouldn't have meant it. Secretly, I would have worried and complained about the ill-treatment...But "then" had to happen in order for me to be here and appreciative of "our" moments.

Relationship talk, nowadays, is so taboo. If it doesn't involve dogging the opposite sex, it sounds as though you're speaking a foreign lanugage to those listening. For instance, if I had said, "I'll drink his bath water." My girls may say, "awwww." And then behind my backs, "girl he's gonna dawg the sh*t out of her. Men ain't sh*t!" LOL! It's all good though. I understand and I can even relate to wearing the hopeless romantic jersey. We've all been there and I'm just hoping, with my fingers crossed & my eyes above, that I won't be rocking the "45" no time soon.

Let's Talk About Love...

A while ago one of my best friends asked the question on her blog about true love and soulmates... "maybe I do believe in true love but do I believe in soulmates... I don't know, are they different or are they the same"

I replied the following and thought I would share with my popular audience on love, a four letter word that is completely taboo and may get you a year-to-life death sentence if used inappropriately. Of course we've all had conversations about it, but it's really hard to discuss it honestly with the ones that need to hear it. Once upon a time ago, we heard songs about it. People discussed the ramifications of falling in love, the good and the bad. Everyone could relate the circumstances of their relationships to what was being sung on the airwaves. Now, it's easier to bang up headboards, than to unconditionally give another person your heart. Crazy huh? Anyway, here's my reply to my friend's blog. Feel free to give your opinion on the matter.

The "soulmate" adage is something that I feel is very circumstantial (thanks for that word yesterday, I added it to my book of words). It's not a virus you catch, it's something that if your heart is open to it, then it can happen. However, if your heart is closed, cold, bitter, resistant to change, biased and conditional...then no, you'll never give your "soulmate" a chance to appear or better yet, you'll use him in the wrong capacity (i.e. booty call). A "soulmate" to me is someone that is destined to be your companion on this Earth. He (or she) was divinely created for you and you for him (or her). Even as the two of you crawled in diapers unbeknowst to one another, you were already appointed the place and time to meet in the future. I also believe, that if you missed the date, because you were with Mr. Asshole and he was with Ms. Bitch, there is still a chance for the opportunity to re-present itself. It all depends on your faith and how far you are willing to hold out for real love. We've all had our "booty-calls" and "one, two, three night stands"...and we can tell after 5-minutes into the initial meeting, where it's going. But if he has potential, pull the reins on your ass and hold out. Get to know him...as I have recently learned, be patient! Get to know who he is inside and out. You may be surprised. But nonetheless, you love yourself like you've never loved you before. Take yourself on trips, get spa services, look captivating (as you do anyway) and have this self-confidence (not arrogance), that let's any man know that steps into your path the standards he has to uphold to be with you. Put your foot down, but firmly pull it back when you see it necessary. If you believe it, then you will send an Amber Alert for your soulmate and at the most awkward and opportunistic moment he'll be there. Of course you won't know it. And you'll unintentionally, brush him off as just another guy you've met. But love does conquer all. Like I said before, love will have its way...it will be if your heart is open to it...if it's destined and you're ready for it...His "will" will be done! He's your soulmate and that's solid....no getting around that. Nonetheless, you can not turn a "waist of time" into a "soul-mate". Some people are truly only in your life for a season. If it's the cold, cold, winter with their ass..then by golly turn up the heat, pick your leaves off the ground, and go into 2008 with spring on your mind!
